Plaza Theatre

Designed as a modern film house with the flexibility of presenting stage shows, the Plaza Theatre in El Paso, TX opened in 1930, and became a fixture in the lives of theatergoers for generations to come. Its size, elaborate decor, and technical innovations made it stand out. No expense was spared in creating this elaborate building, designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style of architecture.

After a period of neglect in the 1980s, the theatre nearly fell victim to demolition to make way for a parking lot. Spurred by a groundswell of community support, the El Paso Community Foundation - with support from actress Rita Moreno - raised the funds for a major renovation. Having been returned to its original splendor, the theatre was donated to the City of El Paso in 1990.

Kendle Elizabeth Kidd Performance Hall

The performance hall of the Historic Plaza Theatre is named in memory of Kendle Elizabeth Kidd by her parents, Community Foundation donors Sharon and Dr. Joe Kidd. Kendle was a vibrant and popular young woman who died in a car crash days before her high school graduation. Kendle's spirit lives on through the music, dance and celebration in the Plaza Theatre.

The Philanthropy Theatre

A beautiful 184 seat performance venue with a stage and production capabilities for community performances, recitals, corporate meetings, etc.

Plaza Classic Lounge in the Camino Real Hotel Lobby

A great place to relax, meet friends, catch your breath or enjoy a cocktail before, between or after films. Enjoy our special daily film talks (see schedule for times and speakers) in the Plaza Classic Lounge, adjacent to the Camino’s beautiful Dome Bar.

Arts Festival Plaza

Located between the El Paso Museum of Art and the Plaza Theatre – is home to some of Downtown’s most popular summer attractions, including the Plaza Classic Film Festival and Alfresco! Fridays. It has also been used as a music venue for the annual Downtown Street Festival and for public art gatherings, such as the Chalk the Block. The area also features a man-made waterfall.

The El Paso Museum of Art

Founded in 1959, the El Paso Museum of Art (EPMA) is a major cultural and educational resource for West Texas, New Mexico, and Mexico. The Museum houses a permanent collection of over 5,000 works of art. In addition to displaying works from its holdings, the Museum offers a diverse schedule of temporary exhibitions, films, lectures, concerts, and other educational programs to the general public.

The Alcantar Sky Garden

This wonderful rooftop garden and reception area is an outdoor space designed for celebrations and meetings. The signature piece of the Annex is a roof top garden that provides a miraculous view of downtown and the arts and culture district. The private patio can accommodate up to 223 guests or 132 for banquet seating and each.

The Oasis Lounge

The Oasis Lounge is a multi-purpose food service facility, located on the ground floor of the Plaza Annex. The Oasis, named in honor of Fred Hervey's historic Plaza Oasis Restaurant, will provide food and drink for activities inside the Historic Plaza Theatre, the Philanthropy Theatre and the Alcantar Sky Garden. Doors open out into Arts Festival Plaza to provide food, drink and even catered fare to people attending events outside the Plaza Theatre, or inside the El Paso Museum of Art.
